The Aledo Ladycats opened up the 5A softball playoffs with a 14-3 home win over Denton Ryan Thursday in game one of the best-of-three bi-district series. Game two will be Friday at Ryan.
Aledo jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. Macy Graf walked, stole second and scored on
Marissa Powell’s RBI single. Texas Ray added a double and scored the third run of the inning.
The Ladycats then blew the game open with six runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Graf’s two-run double. Lilliana Flores had an RBI single and Reagan Davis had a two-run single in the inning.
Kayleigh Smith threw held Ryan hitless through the first four and two-thirds innings before Ryan scored three runs on a walk and three consecutive hits to cut Aledo’s lead to 9-3.
Aledo got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth to make it 11-3, then run-ruled Ryan with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Flores had an RBI double, then Maddy Jarvis ended the game with a 2-run single to right.
