Aledo took over sole possession of second place in District 3-6A with a dominate 70-14 victory over Weatherford Friday in Aledo.
First quarter the Bearcats got short TD runs from Max Forman and Izzy Roberts to go up 14-0 before Weatherford even had a first down. Aledo quarterback Tre Williams then threw a pair of touchdowns to Kane Lanier to give the Bearcats a 28-7 halftime lead.
It was Lanier’s first game back after missing several games because of an injury.
Aledo turned the game into a blowout by scoring 28 points in the third quarter.
Christian Fraticelli strip-sacked the Weatherford quarterback and teammate Omari Din-Mbuh recovered the fumble. Aledo scored on the next play on a 23-yard run by Roberts to make it 35-7.
Aledo scored three more times in the quarter. Backup quarterback Eli Pinnick had a TD run and a TD pass and Aledo got a TD punt return by Cooper Hull.
Aledo put the reserves in for the fourth quarter, and freshman quarterback Beau Hejny saw his first varsity action and threw a TD pass to Mason McCadam. Hejny is the brother of former Aledo quarterback Hauss Hejny.
Aledo plays at Arlington Sam Houston next Friday.
