Aledo Falls to North Crowley, 26-0

Aledo was shutout for the first time since Dec. 7, 2003 in Friday’s 26-0 loss at North Crowley, but that may not have been the most surprising thing about the Bearcat’s loss.

Even more surprising is the fact that the Bearcats ran the ball 40 times and finished with negative rushing yards. Aledo always has a great rushing attack, but there were no easy runs against the North Crowley defense.

Quarterback Tre Williams had a negative 51 rushing yards. Starting running back Jeremiah Johnson carried the ball 13 times for only 27 yards to lead the Aledo rushing attack.

Izzy Roberts finished with 11 carries for seven yards.

The Aledo defense only gave up 19 points to North Crowley. One Panther score came on a 65-yard pick six in the first quarter. That touchdown gave the Panthers a 13-0 lead.

But after giving up touchdown passes of 55, 10 and 65 yards in the first half, the Bearcats shut out North Crowley in the second half.

North Crowley quarterback Jacob Torres completed 11 passes for 189 yards. However, 130 of those yards came on his three first half touchdown throws.

While the Aledo defense seemed to get things figured out in the second half, the Aledo offense will have to wait until next week to show improvement.

Aledo will try to turn it around next week when they host Waco Midway.
