Aledo Ladycats Rally Past Brock, 33-30

Juniors Claire Byars and McKenzie Grau each scored five points in the fourth quarter as the Aledo Ladycats outscored Brock 12-5 in the final frame to take a 33-30 win at home Tuesday against the Brock Lady Eagles.

Aledo entered the fourth quarter trailing 25-21 and the lead changed hands five times in the fourth-quarter. Grau hit a three-pointer with 5:05 left in the game to give Aledo a 26-25 lead. Byars scored in a put-back and made the and-one free throw to put the Ladycats ahead for good with 3:03 left in the game. Grau added a basket with 1:59 to go to give Aledo a 33-30 lead and the Ladycat defense held Brock scoreless the rest of the way.

Grau led the Ladycats with 12 points, while Byars added nine points. Addyson Hebel scored six points, all in the first half.

Aledo led at the half 14-13 as its zone defense keep Brock’s offense in check. Aledo switched to man-to-man in the third quarter and the Lady Eagle’s Marifer Davila found room inside to score eight points. Brock led 25-21 after three quarters.

The Ladycats went back a zone in the fourth quarter and held the Lady Eagles to just five points in the quarter. Brock went the first 3:49 and final 3:22 of the fourth quarter without scoring.

Aledo improved to 2-0 on the season and will host Argyle at 6:15 Friday. Brock fell to 1-1 on the season.
