Lady Cats Sweep Springtown

Senior Mattie Gantt had 30 assists had 30 assists for Aledo

The Aledo Lady Cats swept Springtown 25-19, 25-21and 25-13 in a Tuesday match up between the Star-Telegram’s #4 and #6 area 5A teams.

Skylar Ellison led Aledo with 10 kills, while Vivian Parker had nine and Maddie Frank added eight. Parker and Averie Riser each had three aces, while Skylar Ellison and Sam Smith each had two.

Senior Mattie Gantt had 30 assists and 12 digs in the match. Mia Little led the Lady Cats with 15 digs.

Aledo trailed for much of the first set, with Springtown jumping out to an 8-3 lead. Aledo managed to tie the game at 9-9 but Springtown led 19-17 late in the set.

The Lady Cats then closed out the set on an 8-0 run with Sam Smith serving and Vivian Parker coming up with a couple of blocks at the net to help close it out.

The two teams traded the lead several times in the second set. The set was tied at 14-14 when Aledo scored three consecutive points to take the lead for good. Aledo opened the lead to 20-16 before the two teams traded points for much of the rest of the set. Parker had kills to give the Lady Cats two of their final three points in the set.

The Lady Cats, ranked #4 in the Star-Telegram’s area 5A teams, closed out the match by never trailing in the third set. Aledo went on a 6-0 run with Averie Riser serving to make it 14-6. Springtown could get not closer than 6 points the rest of the set.

The Ladycat’s third consecutive victory improves their record to 16-11.
