Ladycats Fall to Pressure from Lake Ridge

The Lake Ridge girls basketball team got off the bus and started their full court tapping defense on the way to the gym. Or at least it seemed that way to the Ladycats who played their second game of the season against another high pressure defense.

Lake Ridge forced the Ladycats into 38 turnovers in the game and many were turned into points in the 61-34 Aledo loss Tuesday. The Ladycats fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Aledo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but  turnovers kept the Ladycats from finding any offense rhythm in the game. Despite the turn overs in the first quarter, the Ladycats trailed just 14-12.

The aggressive press helped put Aledo into 1-and-1 at the 7:33 mark of the second quarter.

Freshman Addyson Hebel hit her second three-pointer of the game to give Aledo a 18-17 lead with in the first half. However, Lake Ridge turned up the pressure and finished the half on a 9-2 run for a 26-20 halftime lead.

Aledo was outscored 17-9 in the third quarter. The Ladycats had 13 turnovers alone in the third quarter.

The Ladycats host Bowell at 6 p.m. Friday then travel to Jacksboro Tuesday as the young Ladycat team looks for their first victory.
