Sawyer’s 3 TDs Lead Aledo 7th B Over Burleson Kerr

Aledo 7th grade B team quarterback Jack Sawyer threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Bearcats to a 32-6 victory over Burleson Kerr Tuesday at Aledo Middle School.

Kerr took the opening kickoff and drove for a TD to take an ealy 6-0 lead, but it was all Bearcats after that.

Aledo got a kick return to the Kerr 46 and only needed six plays to take the lead for good. Sawyer threw a 20 yard touchdown pass and Noah Frenihough added a point after run to give Aledo an 8-6 lead.

The Bearcats got the ball back at their own 26 with 1:50 left in the half and ran the two minute drill to perfection. Sawyer had a couple of runs of 17 and 8 yards to help set up the ball at the Kerr 39 with 15 seconds left in the half.

Sawyer then het Cane Cooley with a 39-yard strike after a timeout. Kouper Hollinsworth added the PAT run as Aledo took a 16-6 lead to halftime.

Aledo then used up all but 33 seconds of the third quarter with a 11 play scoring drive that was capped by Hollinsworth’s 2-yard TD run. Sawyer threw a PAT conversion to Boyd Thompson as the Bearcats opened the lead to 24-6.

The Bearcats added their final TD when Sawyer ran it in from 16 yards to close out the scoring with 2:18 left in the game.
