8th Grade A-team Rallies Past Everman, 22-8

Aledo Middle School 8th grade team quarterback Brant Hayden threw two second half TD passes to fullback Blake Cook as the Bearcats rallied for a 22-8 victory over Everman Tuesday at Aledo Middle School.

Everman had taken a 8-6 halftime lead, but the Aledo defense came up with several stops in the second half to keep Everman out of the endzone.

The defense forced Everman to turn the ball over on downs on the first possession of the second half and the Bearcats took over at the Everman 48. On first down, Hayden found Cook open in the flat, then Cook broke several tackles down the left sideline as he scored the go-ahead TD.

Tailback Grant Mooney added the PAT run to give the Bearcats a 14-6 lead with 2:05 left in the third quarter. Mooney also had a 15-yard TD run in the first quarter.

The Aledo defense then forced Everman to put on the next possession, and it only took the offense two plays to add an insurance score.

Hayden again found Cook in open in the left flat. Cook then outraced the Everman defense for a 36-yard TD to close out the scoring.
