No Hauss Hejny and no Raycine Guillory, no problem.
The Aledo Bearcats completed an undefeated regular season with a 59-13 win at Brewer Friday without their starting quarterback and starting running back.
Aledo still managed to score the most points Brewer has given up in a game this season.
Quarterback Gavin Beard threw for more than 200 yards for Aledo, while Davhon Keys and Hawk Patrick Daniels each scored a pair of touchdowns for the Bearcats.
Aledo got off to a bit of a slow start, leading just 24-6 at half and one of the touchdowns came on a blocked punt. Aledo’s offense was slowed by penalties in the first half. However, after haltime Aledo scored on every possession until the Bearcats took a knee to end the game.
For a second straight season the Bearcats will be hosting Killeen Shoemaker in the opening round of the playoffs. The Grey Wolves are the fourth-place team from District 4-5A Division I. Aledo won last year’s matchup 37-0 in a game in that saw Hauss Hejny sit out.
Aledo gets to host that first round game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tim Buchanan Stadium.
