The Aledo Bearcats didn’t let homecoming festivities distract them from taking care of business on the football field.
Less than six minutes into Friday’s 70-0 homecoming victory over Saginaw, Aledo had a 30-0 lead despite having run just nine offensive plays.
Sophomore running back Ray Guillory touched the ball just six times, but he scored four touchdowns. He had a pair of 24 yard TD runs and had touchdown receptions of 30 and 23 yards.
Quarterback Hauss Hejny threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns, completing 10 of 15 passes in less than a half of play.
Hawk Patrick-Daniels had a 29-yard TD run in the first quarter. Blake Burdine had a 16-yard TD reception and Kaydon Finley returned from an injury to score on a 70-yard pass from Hejny.
Brody Adams returned a fumble for 25 yards for a defensive touchdown and backup running back Kaden Winkfield scored on a 19-yard run to five Aledo a 67-0 lead at halftime.
There was a running clock in the second half. The only scoring came on a 37-yard Cole Crawford field goal.
Aledo improved to 5-0, 3-0 in District 3 5A Division I. The Bearcats are tied for first in district with Burleson Centennial. Denton Ryan and The Colony are both 2-1 in district after the Cougars upset Ryan 27-20 on Thursday.
Aledo travels to The Colony next Friday in a suddenly key district game.
