Aledo’s high-powered offense was back on track Friday in the Bearcat’s 50-7 victory at Azle.
Sophomore running back Ray Guillory, who picks up college offers almost as fast as he gains yards on Friday nights, ran five time for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Guillory played less than one quarter in Friday’s game.
Guillory was a one-man show on Aledo’s opening drive, carrying twice for all 75 yards in the two-play drive. Hawk-Patrick Daniels added a two-point conversion run and Aledo led 8-0 less than one minute into the game.
The Bearcats scored four times in the first quarter to lead 29-0 before Azle got a first down.
Quarterback Hauss Hejny completed 14 of 17 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half. He threw a 51-yard pass to Trace Clarkson for Aledo’s second touchdown to make it 15-0 less than four minutes into the game.
Patrick-Daniels had a 2-yard TD run to make it 22-0 with 4:58 left in the first quarter, then Guillory had a 24-yard TD run with 32 seconds left in the quarter to make it 29-0.
Aledo needed just 11 offensive plays to score the first three touchdowns.
In the second quarter Henjy had a 52-yard TD pass to Colton McCoy and a 12-yard TD pass to Clarkson to give Aledo a 43-0 lead at the half. Aledo’s starters accounted for 454 yards of offense in the first half, 167 rushing and 287 passing. Aledo’s second string played the second half.
The 4-0 Bearcats return home next week to host Saginaw in the homecoming game.
