Aledo kicked off a new era of Bearcat football with a 50-35 home victory Friday over Parish Episcopal in first game with Robby Jones as head coach.
It was also sophomore running back Raycine Guillory’s first game as a Bearcat and he gave Aledo fans a great introduction to his skills. Gillory took the first play of the game 75 yards for a touchdown in a swing pass from quarterback Hauss Hejny.
Guillory had three touchdowns total as he finished with 122 yards on 11 carries, including TD runs of 33 and 17 yards to lead Aledo’s rushing attack.
Hawk Patrick-Daniels also had a pair of touchdown runs and finished with 10 carries for 85 yards to give Aledo a big advantage in the rushing game. The Bearcats finished with 267 rushing yards, while Aledo’s swarming defense held the Panthers to 30 rushing yards.
Aledo senior linebacker Devhon Keys showed why the Star-Telegram picked him as the area’s pre-season defensive MVP. Keys had a 27-yard pick six for Aledo’s third TD, and he had a second interception later in the game. Keys also made tackles all over the field.
The Bearcats led 50-21 before giving up a pair of fourth quarter scores.
