Aledo Looks Sharp in Scrimmage

The Aledo Bearcats tuned up for the start of the regular season in Thursday’s scrimmage against Stephenville with big plays on offense and defense.

Even though the Bearcats have 7 offensive starters returning, some of the biggest plays were turned in by sophomore running back Raycine Guillory. During the scrimmage Ghillory had two long TD runs and he took a screen pass for another touchdown.

Guillory was a starter as a freshman at 6A Mansfield Lake Ridge. He averaged more than 6 yards a carry playing in a district that includes Duncanville and DeSoto.

Against Stephenville, he showed the ability to make defenders miss then use his speed to get into the second level. Returning running back Hawk Patrick-Daniels also had carries at running back and also lined up in the slot.

In the non-timed portion of the scrimmage, Aledo scored seven touchdowns to one for Stephenville.

In the timed portion of the scrimmage, Aledo outscored Stephenville 10-0.

The Bearcats open the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday by hosting Parish Episcopal, which won a private school state championship. Episcopal defeated Aledo last season 24-17.
