Midway through the football season, Aledo is where it always is at this time of the year, sitting on top of the district standings.
Aledo and Cleburne remain tied to the District 5-5A lead after the Bearcats defeated Midlothian 48-29, while Cleburne rolled past Arlington Seguin 41-19.
Cleburne’s three district victories have come against teams with a combined district record of 1-10. Aledo’s opponents have a combined district record of 6-5. Cleburne has also played four home games this season, while Aledo has only played one home game.
Just one game separates the top four teams in the standings, and those four teams all play each other this week. Aledo is at home Friday against Burleson (5-1, 3-1), while Cleburne will play Centennial in Burleson.
Aledo and Cleburne will play at Cleburne on Oct. 19.
