The Haltom boys basketball team jumped out to a 19-4 lead over Weatherford after one quarter and never looked back.
Marlon Carrington scored 26 points to lead the Buffalos in the District 3-6A victory. Jonathon Frausto added 14 points while James King and Kuol Atak each scored 9 points for Haltom.
The Buffalos used their defense to to get off to the hot start. Haltom’s pressing defense and size in the lane forced Weatherford into numerous turnovers, which allowed Haltom to get out on the fast break.
Carrington’s 12 points in the third quarter helped offset Haltom’s foul trouble in the game. Baron Smith, who finished with six points, picked up his fourth foul in the opening 10 seconds of the third quarter. Smith sat out for the rest of the third quarter and half of the fourth quarter, but Haltom continued to build its lead.
Haltom outscored Weatherford 25-10 in the third quarter with Smith sitting out.
