Brooks Brothers Carry Shiner to 2A Division I State Title

Doug and Dalton Brooks ran for a combined 404 yards and five touchdowns to lead Shiner (16-0) to its second straight Class 2A Division I state championship in a 47-12 victory over Hawley at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Wednesday night.

Doug Brooks was named Championship Game Offensive MVP with 210 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Dalton Brooks had 196 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Dalton also had 63 receiving yards and Doug caught one pass for 11 yards.

The brothers combined for more than 90 percent of Shiner’s offense in the game. Shiner finished with 529 total offensive yards. The Shiner defense held Hawley to 164 total yards in the game.

Shiner’s Eli Fric was named defensive MVP.
