The Bearcat freshman black team stopped Burleson Centennial on downs twice on their own end of the field and recovered two Spartan fumbles to lead Aledo to a 32-16 victory Thursday at Aledo.
The Aledo quarterback ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Bearcat offense.
Centennial started the game on offense but turned the ball over on downs after four plays. The Bearcats got on the scoreboard when running back #21 ran the ball in from the 2 to give them a 6-0 lead.
The Bearcat defense then went out and again forced the Spartans to turn the ball over on downs, this time at the Aledo 28. The quarterback then ran the ball in from the 1 a few plays later to give the Bearcats a 12-0 lead.
Aledo defender #16 then recovered a fumble on the first play of the Spartan’s next drive. Six plays later #28 had a 20-yard TD run, then caught the 2-point conversion pass to give Aledo a 20-0 lead with 2:28 left in the half.
The Spartans then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and #36 recovered. The Aledo quarterback then scored on a 1-yard run with 13 seconds left in the half to make the score 26-0.
On the first possession of the second half, #34 took a short pass from the Aledo quarterback then broke several tackles down the right sideline for a 74-yard TD reception. With 7:33 left in the third quarter, Aledo had a 32-0 lead.
