Ladycats stay undefeated in district

The 13th-ranked Aledo volleyball team swept Friday’s District 5-5A match against Brewer, 25-8, 25-10, 25-17 to improve to 14-3 overall and 5-0 in district play.

All five of Aledo’s district victories have been 3-0 sweeps.

Senior Lilly Taylor led the Ladycats with 10 kills, Audrey Pearce and freshman Vivian Parker each added eight kills.

Junior Maddie Gantt had 25 assists in the match.

The only time Aledo trailed in the entire match was when Brewer took a 1-0 lead in the opening set. Aledo ripped off the next six points to take a 6-1 lead. The Ladycats also had 8-0 and 5-0 runs in the opening set.

The Ladycats jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the second set, then went on a 9-0 run with Pearce serving to open the lead to 20-5.

Brewer forged several ties in the third set as sent in some of its reserves. The score was 9-9 before Aledo began taking command. A late 6-0 run helped Aledo open its lead to 22-14.

The Ladycats play at Granbury on Tuesday.
