JV Orange quarterback Dalton Rapp threw touchdown passes on the Aledo’s first two possessions as the Bearcats took a 20-6 victory Weatherford in Thursday’s first game of the season.
Rapp threw a 23-yard strike to Blake Cook to open the scoring less that two minutes into the game. Running back Davhon Keys ran three times for 51 yards during the five-play drive.
On the Bearcats’ second possession, Aledo faced a third-and-24 when Rapp found Hudson Knox between two defenders 25 yards down the sideline (see the photo above). Knox then outraced the defenders down the sideline for a 77-yard score to make it 13-0 with 4:29 left in the first quarter.
Keys finished the Aledo scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter.
The Aledo offense slowed down after the hot start, but the Aledo defense kept up the pressure on Weatherford.
Gabriel Sherrod and Boston Epley came up with interceptions for Aledo. Defensive end Nathan Wood also had several sacks as Weatherford’s offense was kept in check until the Kangaroos scored with 50 seconds left in the game.
On fourth-and-three, Weatherford quarterback Colton Burch three a 30-yard TD pass to Isaiah King.

JV Black 24, Weatherford 0 – Running back had touchdown runs of 9 and 5 yards and a pair of two point conversion runs to lead the Bearcats over Weatherford.
Cox opened the scoring with his TD run with 8:15 left in the second quarter. His conversion run made it 8-0.
Fullback Tanner Wheaton scored on a 1-yard run and the two-point conversion run by Cox made it 16-0.
Cox closed out the scoring with his TD run with 6:23 left in the game. Quarterback Brant Tubbs threw to Ethan Fernihough for the two point conversion.
