Ashlyn Laughley scored a hat trick in the first 21 minutes of the game to lead the Aledo Ladycats to a 6-3 home victory over second place Wichita Falls Rider Friday. Aledo improved to 7-0 in District 4-5A and clinched the district championship with the victory.
The Ladycats also got a pair of first-half goals from McKenna Vela as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game.
Laughley got behind the defense on all three of her goals. She opened the scoring at the 27:01 mark of the first half by scoring from about five yards out.
She found the back of the net a few minutes later when she flicked the ball past the charging goalie from just outside the penalty area.
Her third goal at 19:01 came on a penalty kick. Laughley had dribbled the ball around the goalie, who reached out and pulled the Aledo sophomore down by her foot.
Rider got its first goal with 22:32 left in the game.
Sam Stasey scored Aledo’s final goal with 17:23 left in the game to make it 6-1.
