Ladycats Shut Out South Hills to Open Tournament

Ashlyn Laughley scored twice to lead Aledo to a 3-0 win over South Hills to open the Moritz-Kia soccer tournament Thursday at Bearcat Stadium.

Laughley opened the scoring to give Aledo a 1-0 lead in the first half then senior Cheney Huddleston gave the Ladycats a 2-0 advantage by scoring on a header off a corner kick with 13:50 left in the first half.

Arwen Wise got the assist on Huddleston’s goal on her corner kick.

Laughley also scored on a header with 15:03 left in the game.

Goalie Emma Davis had the shutout for Aledo.

The Ladycats play in the tournament semifinals at 9 a.m. Friday at Bearcat Stadium. Friday’s game time has moved up three hours in an attempt to beat the storms that will be moving into the area.

The Varsity Girls black team will play at 10:30 a.m. on the freshman field. The JV girls will play at noon at Bearcat Stadium and the JV boys will play at 1:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
