The Aledo Ladycats fell to Princeton 49-40 Friday morning in the second game of the Aledo basketball tournament.
The Ladycats had jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before Princeton fought back to tie the score at 9-9 to end the first quarter. The game remained close throughout much of the second and third periods.
It was tied at 20 at halftime and the Ladycats held a 28-27 lead with 32 seconds left in the third quarter. However, Princeton hit a pair of 3-pointers in that final 32 seconds to take it’s biggest lead, 33-28.
Aledo point guard Riley Sale fouled out early in the fourth quarter and Princeton started shooting the bonus with six minutes left in the game and the Lady Panthers started pulling away at the charity stripe.
Aledo will play a second game in the tournament today at 3 p.m. The Ladycats will face Krum in that game.
