Sophomore receiver Tyson Timms covered all 53 yards with a pair of receptions. His diving catch of a 42-yard bomb set up an 11-yard TD catch in which he ran through a South Oak Cliff receiver to get into the end zone with about 30 seconds left.

The Aledo defense then stopped South Oak Cliff in its final possession.

Things were not looking up for Aledo in the opening minutes of Thursday’s game. The Golden Bears took an early 14-0 lead with a pair of long touchdowns on their first two possessions.

South Oak Cliff scored on a 74-yard pass on the second play of the game. On their second possession, the Golden Bears got a 58-yard TD run to make it 14-0 with 4:02 left in the first quarter. While Aledo moved the ball on their first two possessions, they turned the ball over on downs to end both drives.

The Aledo defense came up with a big play in their first play of South Oak Cliffs third drive to turn around the momentum. Alexander Fraticelli caused and recovered a fumble at the Golden Bear 12-yard line to set up Aledo’s first TD to make it 14-7.

Amarion Simon-Jones then made a tackle behind the line of scrimmage to stop South Oak Cliff’s fourth drive. The Bearcats then moved the ball into the red zone before getting a 30-yard field goal on the final play of the half to make it 14-0.

Neither team managed to score in the first 17 minutes of the second half before Timms heroics in the final minute.
