The Aledo Bearcats blew open a close game by scoring six unanswered touchdowns to cruise to a 57-21 District 5-5A Division II game at Burleson.
The Elks scored on the game’s first series to take a 7-0 lead over Aledo, but the Bearcats answered on their first possession to tie the game at 7-7. Jeremiah James scored from a yard out for Aledo. James had two TD runs, while Jo Jo Earle had three TD runs and Demarco Roberts had one.
Cornerback Collin Johnson recovered a fumble just before the half to allow Aledo to go up by two scores at halftime.
Even though all-state running back Jase McClellan missed his third game with an injury, the Bearcats had six rushing touchdowns. Earle, who scored his rushing touchdowns by taking direct snaps in the wildcat formation, also had a 34 yard screen pass reception go for a touchdown.
Quarterback Jake Bishop also had a 20-yard TD pass to Money Parks.
Aledo improves 4-0 in District 5-5A and 5-1 overall. The Elks fall to 3-2 in 5-5A and 5-2 overall.
