Left-handed pitcher Lucas Nawrocki threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and led the Aledo offense with a solo home run to power the Bearcats to a 3-0 victory over Paschal in the first game of the area-round three game playoff series.
Each team only managed two hits, but Aledo took advantage of both hits as well as baserunners from errors and a hit batter.
Aledo improved to 32-3 and will play at Paschal at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the second game of the series.
Dylan Duran singled to lead off the bottom of the second then came in to score on a past ball to make it 1-0.
Aledo added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nawrocki led off with his home run to right center, then Aledo added a run on a Paschal error, followed by a hit batter and a pair of wild pitches.
Nawrocki got strikeouts from the last two Paschal batters. He had strikeouts in six of the seven innings he pitched.
