Ladycats Sweep Joshua, 25-23, 25-18, 25-12

The Aledo Ladycat volleyball team improved to 17-4 on the season Tuesday with a sweep of Joshua.

Aledo took a close first set 25-23, then closed out the match with 25-18 and 25-12 scores in the final two sets.

Aledo got off to a slow start in the first set, trailing 4-1 early. After making it 4-4, the Ladycats never trailed by more than more than two points the rest of the set. Aledo trailed 19-17 before ripping off a 3-0 run to take the lead.

Aledo closed out the first set 5-3 to take the lead.

The Ladycats got off to a better start, 3-0, in the second set. They were up 10-6 before letting Joshua go on a couple of runs of 4-0 and 3-0 to tie the set up at 14-14. The Ladycats led 17-16 when they went on a 4-0 run to take command of the set.

Aledo had scoring runs of four, four and three early in the third set to jump out to a 13-4 lead. It was never in doubt the rest of the way as Aledo went on a 12-8 run to close it out.

The Ladycats will compete in a tournament this weekend and are scheduled to play Timbercreek and Frisco on Friday.
