Ladycats Hold Off Fossil Ridge

The Ladycats were one point from sweeping Fossil Ridge in three sets, but the Panthers rallied to make it interesting. Fossil Ridge jumped out to an early lead in the fifth set before Aledo finally pulled out the 25-21, 25-19, 25-27, 26-28, 15-9 win to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Fossil Ridge had a 4-3 lead in the fifth set before Aledo scored five consecutive points to take command. Aledo’s Kenrie Pruitt was serving during the 5-0 run and had an ace to make it 7-4.

Aledo put the match away with kills from sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Todd and senior Vivian Parker.

Aledo won the first two sets and led the third set 24-21 before Fossil Ridge went on a 6-1 run to win the set 27-21. Aledo also had a match point in the fourth set, leading 26-25, but the Ladycats gave away two points on a service error and a ball handling error to send the match to a fifth set.

Parker led the Ladycats with 18 kills, three aces, and 24 diggs. Todd had 13 kills and junior Kinley Elms had 12 kills.

Fossil Ridge was led by senior Lainee Pyles 26 kills/18 digs/3 blocks, Aaliyah Toppin 14 kills/14 digs and sophomore Tatum Flemming 39 assists/15 digs.
