Wichita Falls Rider dominated around the net to take a 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 win at Aledo Tuesday in a showdown of the top two teams in District 5-5A.
In each of the three sets Rider put together scoring runs to take command.
Aledo led the first set 12-10 when Rider went on a 9-1 run to take control of the set. The Ladycats never managed to score more than two consecutive points in the set.
Aledo had an early lead in the second set, but Rider went on a 6-0 run to take a 12-6 lead. The final two points of the run came on blocks at the net. The Ladycats clawed their way back to within two points, 20-18, before Rider close out the set on a 5-0 run.
The Ladycats jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the third set before Rider went on a 7-0 scoring run to take a 12-10 lead. Aledo then rallied to take a 14-13 lead in the set before Rider took the lead for good when it went on a 6-0 run to make it 19-14.
The Ladycats closed to within 20-19 before Rider closed out the match.
Rider improved to 4-0 in district play, while Aledo fell to 3-1 but in sole possession of second place in district.
