Ladycats Shut Out Northwest, 10-0

The Aledo Ladycats scored 10 runs on eight hits to run-rule Northwest 10-0 Tuesday in a District 5-5A game. Addie Perry drive in four runs and scored three runs as Aledo improved to 2-0 in district and 14-4-1 overall.

Junior left-hander Brenlee Gonzales got the shutout by allowing only 2 hits while striking out four and walking only one batter.

Northwest fell to 1-1 in district.

The Ladycats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with an unearned run. Perry was hit by a pitch to open the inning. A pair of Northwest errors on a bunt and a ground ball brought Perry home with the winning run.

It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth when Aledo plated five additional runs.

Gonzales started the rally with a single to left. Ana Flores then doubled to center to drive in a run. Maddy Jarvis then reached on an error that allowed Flores to score. Reagan Davis then reach base on a dropped third strike. Jarvis and Davis then pulled off a double steal then scored on an error.

The fifth run came home when Presley Hull beat out an infield single to make it 6-0.

Jarvis started the bottom of the six inning with a bunt single. Davis then had a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third. Perry then singled in two runs with a line drive to right. Claire Byars then tripled with a drive to the wall in right center to make it 9-0.

Texas Ray ended the game with a RBI single.

The Ladycats continue district play at 7 p.m. Friday at Saginaw.
