Aledo Baseball Downs Smithson Valley 8-1

The Aledo Bearcats never trailed, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and Devin Miller pitched a complete game 4-hitter as Aledo eared the 5A Division I state championship Friday with an 8-1 victory over Smithson Valley.

Championship game MVP Lucas Nawrocki was 4-for-4, with two RBI and scored twice. It was Nawrocki’s first hit that drove in Aledo’s first run.

In the second inning, Aledo scored on a double-steal to take the lead for good, 2-1. The Bearcats put the game away by scoring six runs over the final three innings. Three triples helped the Bearcat scoring burst.

Nawrocki, Luke Gladchuk and Brooks Burdine had the triples. Aledo had 11 hits in the game and the team stole six bases.

The Bearcats finish the season at 34-8.
