Kaden Richardson and Javon Smith combined for 43 points, including all six of Chisholm Trail’s points in overtime to give the Rangers a 57-54 bi-district win against Southlake Carroll Tuesday night at Birdville High School.
Richardson scored a game-high 28 points, and calmly knocked down four free throws to open the overtime scoring and give the Rangers a 55-51 lead.
Carroll cut the lead to 55-54 with 51 seconds left in the quarter, but Smith then added his two free throws as the Rangers held off Carroll.
Chisholm Trail improves to 22-7 with the victory, while Carroll finished its season at 21-9.
Ari Tumma led the Dragons with 19 points and Christian O’Connor added 14 points for Carroll.
The Dragons jumped out the a six-point lead early in the game and led 15-10 going into the second quarter. However, the Rangers came storming back in the second quarter as Richardson nailed a three-point shot just before halftime to give Chisholm Trail a 28-23 lead at the half.
Just like the start of the game, Carroll was hot to start the second quarter. The Dragons scored the first seven points of the second half to take the lead. Carroll led 40-38 heading into the fourth quarter.
