Pawlak, McKean Lead Aledo Ladycats Past Burleson

Aledo’s Kyleigh Pawlak had five RBIs, while pitcher Taylor McKean struck out 13 batters as the Aledo Ladycats took a 13-2 run-rule victory over Burleson in the one-game area round 5A Division 1 playoff series Thursday at Chisholm Trail High School.

Aledo scored in four of five innings as Aledo jumped out to a 13-0 lead before Burleson scored two runs off McKean in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Aledo had a two-out rally in the first inning to score three runs. Maria Travaras, who had two triples in the game, drove in the first run with an RBI single. McKean then added a RBI double and Tempe Perry had an RBI single.

Aledo had 14 hits in the game, including six for extra bases. Tempe Perry had a double and sister Addie Perry had a triple. Pawlak also had a triple.

Pawlak now has nine RBIs in Aledo’s last two playoff games.

Aledo, 27-3, will play the winner of the Amarillo-Chapin playoff series. The teams will play on Saturday.
