The Aledo Ladycat volleyball team swept Granbury, 30-28, 25-18, 25-20, to move to 5-1 in District 5-5A and 24-14 overall.
Aledo had to fight off several set points before a Vivian Parker kill gave the Ladycats the 30-28 win in the first set. Neither team had more than a 3-point lead throughout the entire set.
Sophomore Lauryn Mack helped Aledo fight off one set point with a kill to tied the game at 27. Mack then served an ace to give Aledo a 28-27 lead. Mack led Aledo with 13 kills against Granbury, but the Ladycats also got 10 kills from Alyssa Gonzales and nine from Parker.
Parker also had a kill to finish off set 2 for Aledo. The second set was much like the first as the teams traded the lead four times before the Ladycats went on a 7-1 run to take a 24-16 lead.
Senior Mia Little led Aledo with 20 digs, and Alyssa Gonzales had 15.
Aledo is in second place in district behind Northwest. Saginaw is in third at 4-2 and Azle is fourth at 3-3 at the half-way point in the district schedule. The Ladycats will play Northwest at home next Friday at 5:30 p.m.
