Ladycats Sweep Everman in Bi-district Series

The Aledo Ladycat softball team made short work of its bi-district series, sweeping Everman 15-0 and 14-0 Thursday at Aledo.

The Ladycats needed just three innings to take the 15-0 win in Game 1. Taylor McKean and and Lily Heckathorn combined for a 3-inning perfect game for Aledo. McKean struck out all six batters she faced, while Heckathorn struck out two.

Jordyn Edington hit a home run off the extension of the left-field foul pole to lead Aledo’s offense in game one.

The Ladycats scored 14 runs in the first inning as they sent 17 batters to the plate, one shy of batting around the lineup twice. Addie Perry, Ana Flores, Marina Tavares, Kayleigh Pawlak and Edington each scored two runs in the game.

In the nightcap, Brenlee Gonzales and freshman Rylee Marx combined on a 5-inning no-hitter. Gonzales struck out five in two innings, while Marx struck out 8 in three innings.

Pawlack had two hits, including a double and four RBIs in the second game. Perry led off the Aledo’s first inning with a triple as the Ladycats scored five runs in the first inning. Breleigh Mayer had an inside the park home run that skipped under the glove of the right-fielder and rolled to the wall.

Tavares and Kellyn Overtuff also had doubles in the game.

Aledo, 29-3, advances to the area playoff round where it will play the winner of the Birdville vs. Midlothian bi-district series.
