Ladycats Squeak Past Abilene Wylie on Senior Day

The Ladycats scored the final two points in the fifth game to take a 3-2 win over Abilene Wylie on senior day, 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 24-26, 15-13.

Senior Alyssa Gribble got the game-winning kill, see the photo above, to improve Aledo to 4-0 on the season.

Senior Lilly Taylor had 22 kills, 20 digs and 4 blocks to lead Aledo. Senior Molly Tucker led the team in digs with 31, while senior Audrey Pearce led the team in blocks with 5.

Aledo looked like it was on its way to an easy Senior Day victory when the Ladycats won the first two games 25-19, 25-17.

However, Wylie went on an 8-2 run midway through game three to turn around the momentum. Wylie held on for a 25-21 win in game three before the two teams played a pair of tight games to finish out the match.

In the fourth game, the teams were tied at 24-24 when Wylie broke serve to take a one-point lead then won the next point to win 26-24.

The teams were within three points of each other throughout game five and were tied at 13-13, setting up the final kill by Gribble.

Aledo goes on the road to Highland Park Tuesday to play against Highland Park and Wylie East, then travel to Midlothian on Friday. The Ladycats will be at home next Saturday with dual matches against Weatherford and Rockwall.
