Ladycats Shut Out Cooper, 6-0

The Aledo Ladycat soccer team closed out their district schedule with a 6-0 victory over Abilene Cooper Monday afternoon at Bearcat Stadium.

The Ladycats got goals from five different players.

Sophomore Grace Ornelas had a pair of second-half goals to lead Aledo.

Senior Hunter Jones opened the scoring with a header off a corner kick.

Freshman Ashlyn Laughley scored on an assist from senior Brooke Jones with 12:03 left in the first half to make it 2-0. Brooke Jones got a goal of her own when she knocked in a rebound off her first shot with 8:06 left in the first half.

Ornelas scored both of her goals a minute and a half away midway through the second half. The first game on a shot to the left top corner of the net with 19:45 left in the game.

Aledo’s final goal came on a shot from sophomore Grade Bertram off a corner kick from midfielder Brook Jones with 6:38 left to play.

The Ladycats have two non-district games left in the regular season. They have a home game against Denton on March 19 and a road game at Richland on Friday, March 22.
