Ladycats Roll Past Azle

The Aledo Ladycat volleyball team improved to 8-0 in District 5-5A and 18-3 overall with a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-16 and 25-14) of Azle Friday at home.

Aledo, which is ranked 10th in the state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, has won every district game this season with a 3-0 sweep. The Ladycats have not lost a set since losing a non-district game to Carroll on Oct. 9.

The Ladycats can clinch first place in district with a victory Tuesday’s home match against second place Wichita Falls Rider. Rider’s only district loss was to the Ladycats. The Lady Raiders are ranked 25th in the state.

In Friday’s victory, Lilly Taylor had 11 kills, Audrey Pearce had eight and Vivian Parker added six. Junior Maddie Gantt had 30 assists in the match.

The Ladycats took control early in each set, allowing all of Aledo’s players to get into the game.
