Ladycats Roll In District Opener

The Aledo Ladycat softball team opened District 5-5A with an 18-1 home victory over Wichita Falls Rider.

The Ladycats pounded out 21 hits. Catcher Addie Perry and right fielder Maddy Jarvis each had four hits to lead Aledo. Perry, Ana Flores and Brenlee Gonzalez each had three RBI. Claire Byars, Texas Ray and Jarvis each had a pair of RBI.

Nathalie Touchet pitched a complete game 2-hitter, striking out nine.

The Ladycats scored in each of the five innings they hit, putting the game away with six runs in the third inning and seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Aledo improved to 9-4-1 overall and 1-0 in district with the victory.

The Ladycats will play six games in the Marshall tournament Thursday-Saturday and return to district play with a home game against Northwest on Tuesday.
