The Aledo Ladycats hammered Azle 16-0 Tuesday to reach the halfway point of district play with a perfect 6-0 record, having outscored district opponents 65-4.
Aledo run-ruled Azle in four innings when Kayleigh Pawlak capped a 10-run fourth-inning with a grand slam over the left field wall. Pawlak had five RBIs in the game.
Pitcher Taylor McKean threw a four-inning perfect game no-hitter, striking out 10 of 12 batters she faced. McKean also hit a 2-run homer in the second inning.
Five of Aledo’s 11 hits went for extra bases. In addition to the two home runs, Marina Taveras tripled in the second inning and scored the Ladycats’ first run. Tempe Perry and Jordyn Edington each doubled.
Aledo improved to 17-3 on the season and will host Brewer Friday.
