Ladycats down Joshua, 3-1

Aledo middle hitter Maddie Frank had several blocks in the match, including this stuff.

The Aledo Ladycats improved to 2-0 at home with a 3-1 victory over the Joshua Owls Tuesday.

Aledo won 25-14, 25-17, 21-25 and 26-24.

The Ladycats never trailed in either of the first two sets.

Aledo and Joshua were tied 8-8 in the first set when the Ladycats went on an 8-1 run to take control. Aledo had another 5-0 run with Vivian Parker serving to make it 24-13.

Parker was serving early in the second set as the Ladycats went on a 7-0 run to take a 10-2 lead. Parker had two service aces in that run. Joshua was unable to cut the lead to fewer than 6 points for the rest of the set.

Unlike the first two sets, Aledo wasn’t able to put together any scoring runs in losing the third set. Although the Ladycats only lost 25-21, they only managed to score three points while serving. All of Aledo’s other points came on side outs.

Aledo jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fourth set, but Joshua went on a 5-0 run to tie the score at 6-6. The game was tied at 24-24 when the Ladycats scored in a side out then closed it out by scoring with Mattie Gantt serving.

Aledo, 8-7 overall, will play in the Volleypalozza tournament this weekend and will have a game at Weatherford next Tuesday.
