Ladycat Volleyball Falls to Highland Park in State Semifinals

It's not the trophy Aledo hoped to bring home, but Aledo finished the season as a state semifinalist.

The Aledo Ladycats were swept by Highland Park, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21, Saturday in the state 5A Division 1 volleyball semifinals.

Aledo got off to slow starts in all three sets, falling behind by five points minutes into each set.

Aledo committed uncharacteristic unforced errors in each set, falling behind 7-2 in each of the first two sets and 6-1 in the third set.

While the Ladycats played even through the middle of the three sets, the slow starts  were too much to overcome.

Aledo only led tree times in the match: a 1-0 lead in set two, and a brief leads of 16-14 and 18-17 in the third set.

The Ladycats finished the season at 41-4, which included a five-set victory over Highland Park early in the season. It is the second season in a row for Aledo to lose in the state semifinals.
