Ladycat Soccer Holds Off Wichita Falls, 2-1

The first-place Ladycat soccer team scored the first two goals of the game then held on for a 2-1 District 4-5A game against Wichita Falls Thursday at Bearcat Stadium.

The Ladycats improved to 5-0-1 in district play.

Ashlyn Laughley opened the scoring when she got behind the Wichita Falls defense on an assist from Brooke Jones at the 25:35 mark of the first half. Jones then made it 2-0 when she scored with an assist from Laughley with 15:50 left in the first half.

Wichita Falls got on the scoreboard when a blast from the sideline that found the back top corner of the net with 2:19 left to play in the fist half.

Neither team managed to score in the frigid second-half of the game.

Aledo will attempt to clinch the district championship Friday when they travel to play second place Wichita Falls Rider.
