Kayleigh Smith Tosses No Hitter As Aledo Opens District With 3-0 Win

Kayleigh Smith came one walk away from a perfect game and the Ladycat batters scratched out three runs in the bottom of the fifth of Aledo’s district-opening victory over Brewer.

Aledo’s senior pitcher also had seven strikeouts in the 3-0 victory.

Brenlee Gonzales got the Aledo winning rally going when she hit a shot to center that went for a three-base error off the center fielder’s glove. Catcher Allison Mallard drove in the winning run with a double. Mallard later scored on a past ball and the third run came home on a throwing error.

Aledo’s defense was flawless to back Smith’s pitching.

The Ladycats play at Granbury in a district game Tuesday.
