Granbury Rallies Past Ladycats to Win on PKs

The Ladycats were nursing a 2-1 lead against Granbury in the final five minutes of the the semifinal game at the Moritz-Kia Tournament of Champions Friday at Bearcat Stadium.

Ashlyn Laughley had scored two second half goals to help the Ladycats overcome Granbury’s 1-0 halftime lead.

Laughley outraced the goalie to the ball to tie the game with 25:20 left.

Laughley then got a long ball and a breakaway to give Aledo a 2-1 lead with 10:30 left in the game. However, Granbury wasn’t finished.

The Lady Pirates scored on a shot from 25 yards out with 3:50 left in the game to send the game into penalty kicks.

The Granbury goalie then stopped three of the five PKs to send the Lady Pirates into the championship game.
