First-place Ladycats roll to easy win

Senior Elizabeth Allanach put on a show in the first quarter as she scored the first 10 points of the game to lead the first-place Aledo Ladycats to a 60-28 District 4-5A victory over Wichita Falls Rider Friday at home.

Allanach scored from everywhere on the court while getting 13 points in the first quarter as the Ladycats jumped out to a 15-1 lead entering the second quarter. Allanach made layups, free throws and several three-pointers, including one at the buzzer ending the first quarter. She finished with a game-high 18 points.

While it was almost all Allanach in the first quarter, the rest of the team found the scoring touch in the second quarter.

Junior guard Riley Sale had 11 points in the first half, all of them coming in the second quarter. Sale also had a three-pointer at the buzzer to end the first half. She finished with 13 points in the game.

The Ladycats led 36-17 at halftime.

The big lead allowed Laycat coach Nikki Hyles to play all of the reserves for much of the second half.

Aledo improves to 4-0 in district play.
