Aledo junior running back Jase McClellan returned to action by scoring six touchdowns in just the first half of Aledo’s 49-7 victory over Arlington Seguin Friday at Bearcat Stadium.
The No.1 ranked Bearcats finished the regular season at 10-0 and earned their 11th consecutive outright district title.
The Bearcats will open the Class 5A, Division II playoffs at home on Thursday against Seagoville, the fourth seed from District 6-5A. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
McClellan, who had sat out the last two games, finished with 12 carries for 107 yards and the six scores. His night was done after his sixth touchdown run in the second quarter.
Aledo quarterback Jake Bishop completed eight of 13 passes for 218 yards is less than two quarters.
Aledo hosts the first-round playoff game and the Bearcat offense looked like a well-oiled machine during the first six possessions when the starters were in the game. The Bearcats got touchdowns on all six of those possessions. McClellan didn’t show any signs of rust after having sat out the last two games.
The Aledo starting defense looked just as dominate, as the Cougars didn’t get a first down until Aledo had a 35-0 lead.
While Aledo enters the playoffs looking dominate, Seagoville enters Thursday’s playoff game having lost three of its last four games. The Dragons lost to district runner up Red Oak 65-0 Friday night.
