Lightning put an early end to the Masfield Timberview vs. Aledo scrimmage Thursday, and fans didn’t get an answer to who will start at quarterback for the Bearcats in next week’s season opener against Denton Guyer.
The first team offense played two 10 minute periods before nearby lightning put an end to the scrimmage. Nash Mcalree and Lincon Tubbs alternated taking snaps at quarterback with the first team offense. Interceptions were a problem for Aledo in the first 10-minute period, keeping the Bearcats out of the endzone.
The Aledo offense showed some life in the second 10-minute period as the Bearcats began making big plays both running and passing the ball. Aledo’s offense got a TD in that period.
Aledo’s defense dominated Timberview early, shutting down the run and putting pressure on the quarterback. Timberview did not have a first down during the first 10-minute period it was on offense.
Timberview got a long touchdown pass late in their second offensive period.
Aledo’s second string offense had no issue moving the ball, scoring three times even though their second eight-minute period was cut in half by the lighting.
Between first and second team reps, Aledo outscored Timberview 4-1 on the night.
Aledo opens the regular season at home against Denton Guyer on Aug. 29.
