Aledo Overpowers Hillcrest, 77-0

The top-ranked Aledo Bearcats dominated in every phase of the game to take a 77-0 bi-district playoff victory over Hillcrest Thursday at Bearcat Stadium.

Aledo scored in every offensive possession in the first half and the defense added a pair of pick-six interceptions. The Bearcats led 63-0 at halftime as the defense held the Panthers to -3 total yards in the first half.

Aledo out gained Hillcrest 572 yards to 77 yards in the game. The Panthers got a couple of long completions against the Aledo reserves to get out of negative yardage. Still, Hillcrest finished with -13 rushing yards.

Running back Ryans Williams finished with two touchdown runs (5 and 44 yards) and a 40-yard TD reception in limited playing time.

Quarterback Brayen Fowler-Nicolosi was 9-11 for 230 yards and three touchdowns while playing less than a half.

Fowler-Nicolosi opened the scoring by hitting Jalen Pope open over the middle for a 56-yard TD pass just 1:24 into the game.

Just over a minute later, Davhon Keys returned an interception 11 yards to make it 14-0 Aledo.

Also in the first quarter, Aledo got touchdown runs from Williams, from 5 yards out, and Sammy Steffe, from 15 yards out.

On the first play of the second quarter, Fowler-Nicolosi scrambled left before checking down to Williams near the line of scrimmage. Williams then weaved his way through the defense for a 40-yard TD reception to make it 35-0 with 11:49 left in the first half.

The Bearcats then got a 29-yard TD reception from Brian Fleming to make it 42-0 with 9:56 left in the first half.

Steffe got his second TD run, this time from two yards out, to make it 49-0 with 5:24 left in the half.

Williams, who only carried the ball five times for 61 yards, got his second TD run (44 yards) with 1:20 left in the half to make it 56-0.

The defense got a second score a minute later when Andrew Parkhurst returned an interception 40 yards with 19 seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, Brant Hayden threw a 9-yard touchdown to Jason Llewellyn and Ryan Cox had a 10-yard touchdown run.

Aledo advances to play the winner of Friday’s Forney vs Frisco Liberty game.
