Aledo Ladycats Sweep Azle

The Ladycat volleyball team remained undefeated in District 5-5A with a 25-13,25-20, 25-17 home victory over Azle on Friday.

Aledo only trailed one time in all three sets.

The Ladycats set the tone in the first set by jumping out to a 7-1 lead by going on a 6-0 scoring streak with sophomore Vivian Parker serving.

The Ladycats went on a 8-0 streak to take the lead to 16-4 while senior Averie Riser was serving.

Azle took its only lead of the night when the Hornets led 3-2 in the second set. Aledo then ran off seven consecutive points while Parker was serving to take command of the second set. Azle managed to cut the lead to three several times late in the set but could get no closer.

Aledo jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the third set with a 5-0 run with Lexi Littlefield serving.

Aledo is not 3-0 in district play and 6-0 at home this season.

The Ladycats host Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday in a showdown for sole possession of the district lead.
