Caleb Pope scored on a pair of 5-yard TD runs and Austin Keith kicked a 39-yard field goal to lead the Aledo JV football team to a 16-6 Wednesday over Frisco Lone Star at Bearcat Stadium.

The Bearcats stopped Lone Star on four downs on the first possession of the game, then got a blocked punt to set up a short TD drive. Caden Petty and Cayson Hand combined to pressure the Lone Star punter and block the punt.

The Bearcats needed just three plays and a penalty to cover 36 yards, with Pope bulling his way through three Ranger defenders to give Aledo a 7-0 lead with 7:07 to play in the first quarter.

Pope had 11 carries for 55 yards in the game.

Quarterback Ryan Jones threw for 65 yards and ran for 39 yards for Aledo.

The Aledo JV Black won by a score of 34-0.
